One of a kind

An Oracle of summer. They came wearing the season — a tomato as a crown, a string of pearls and pears at the neck.

This piece is for every summer of my childhood. For the kind of freedom only a child knows — endless days, impossible adventures, time that didn't move the way it does now. For Kherson tomatoes, whose smell I would recognize anywhere in the world. For warm earth, sun on the skin, fruit eaten straight from the garden.

Some summers we live through. Others we keep.

The kind of summer when nothing needs to happen, and everything is already enough.
